Greening Homes has a number of very talented team members and Shane MacInnes is no exception. A skilled carpenter with an eye for design, his submission into the Maple Leaf Forever Design Exhibit and Auction was selected from a large number of applicants. He was in good company with other well known carpenters.

Shane describes the Sap light fixture  as melding the natural beauty and characteristics of a maple tree with a functional and contemporary design.

The tree, which fell to a storm in 2013, is thought to have been the inspiration for the song Maple Leaf Forever by Alexander Muir, written in 1867, the year of Confederation. In order to preserve the cultural legacy of this tree, the City of Toronto has worked to involve location artisans to create inventive and beautiful pieces from the tree.

All creations were unveiled at the Green Living Show and were up for auction. Not all items were sold, which means you can still get your hands on Shane’s amazing pendant lights at  www.livingtradition.ca.
